Mobile App spotlight: Taking a look at the MicroStrategy World Conference App

At our recent MicroStrategy World conference in Barcelona, over 1,350 attendees took advantage of the knowledge provided by BI, Big Data, Mobile, and Security industry leaders.
 
Participants heard more about our amazing analytics capabilities, got the latest updates about our great mobile features—including the iOS7 redesign, and new integration with MDM solutions such as AirWatch—and can now take advantage of a variety of new MicroStrategy offerings.  
 

Last month at MicroStrategy World in Barcelona, over 1,350 attendees took advantage of the knowledge provided by BI, Big Data, Mobile, and Security industry leaders.

Participants heard more about our amazing analytics capabilities, got the latest updates about our great mobile features—including the iOS7 redesign, and new integration with MDM solutions—and can now take advantage of a variety of new MicroStrategy offerings.  

For the conference, the Mobile team rolled out a standalone mobile app that showed conference information and provided key conference management capabilities. iOS7 Redesign Design:

The app was designed following iOS7 design principles, providing a light and flat feel.

Scheduling Capabilities:

The app used transaction services to allow users to look at the timeline of the conference via grids and in app PDFs. Users were able to add sessions on the go for a more comprehensive look at his/her World schedule.

Within our iPad app, users could take notes on various presentations or rate a specific presentation via in-app inputs and surveys.

Collateral:

Information was at the fingertips of users, with a variety of brochures and information available in the “Collateral” section. From looking at “Apps for Every Employee” brochures to top customer videos, users could view information quickly and on the go.

Social Features:

The social features of the app were a big hit.  Users were able to access a variety of social media, including YouTube, Flickr, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Here are our favorite tweets and images from the conference:

iBeacon Integration:

One of the most innovative features of the app was seen in the mapping section. Our application offered iBeacon integration so attendees could see his/her in-conference location on the go. (If case you’re not familiar: iBeacons are Apple’s low energy Bluetooth offering, which allow users to get in-app alerts and in-app location services.) This was helpful when trying to navigate the conference center to find one of the many sessions or workshops.

Command Center:

We were able to get a larger overview of conference attendee locations and session attendance by looking at the Command Center in the Exhibit Hall. The Command Center included two large TV monitors that showed information from two iPads running MicroStrategy Mobile.
