In today’s fast-paced business environment, users demand the flexibility to work with data no matter where they are, or what device they're on. As a result, organizations are prioritizing access to a mobile BI tool that is powerful and smart enough to transform the way people work in the field.
In a recent survey of 308 data analytics users conducted by Clutch, a software and professional services research firm, 70 percent of respondents consider a mobile application crucial to their use of BI software. Of the 30 percent of users who did not consider a mobile application crucial, more than half (59 percent) still recognize mobility as an increasingly important aspect of their business.
The study also found that 86 percent of business intelligence users think that BI data is important for businesses. With this in mind, it's critical for organizations to arm their employees with quick and easy access to analytics from anywhere, and present it in a visually compelling manner. Organizations that provide mobile access to their enterprise business intelligence users, see three major business benefits:
On-the-go Access to Interactive Analytics
Paper-based reports become outdated the minute they are printed. In order to avoid “stale data”, which can pose a problem when collaborating out in the field, data needs to be mobile and updated in real time. In today’s world, outdated data can be the difference between success and failure. On top of that, mobile data and analytics must be interactive, which is not often the case with PDFs. Interactive mobile dashboards allow users to explore data while away from their desk, ask questions on the fly, and make more informed decisions.
Greater Use and Adoption
In their survey, Clutch found that more than a third (36 percent) of data analytics users wait, on average, more than a day to receive access to their data. On top of that, 31 percent of respondents said that accessing their data was complex, and 43 percent said they had to rely on another person to receive access. Making analytics more accessible by deploying it on mobile leads to higher usage—ensuring that businesses are getting the most out of their enterprise analytics and mobility investments. After mobilizing their business intelligence, our customer, AutoTrader.com, saw employees use the platform 40 times more; similarly, East Coast Metal Distributors, saw a 56 percent increase in usage.
More Empowered Employees
Many organizations don’t just want to provide employees with their data on the go, they also want to empower them to take action based on that data. Adding transactional inputs and write-back capabilities to mobile BI apps that support business workflows help to bring about true business process transformation and productivity gains. Even when away from their desks, users are able to keep the pace of business moving quickly, submitting and updating data and images to ERP systems, CRM systems, and operational databases.
