Traffic in Paris? C'est la vie.

Paris is a beautiful city, but much of its pre-industrial infrastructure has been overwhelmed by today’s urban congestion. The result is traffic, smog, and other air quality problems that Paris is working hard to overcome.

In order for Paris to address these issues properly, it must first understand the underlying context of each problem. That's why MicroStrategy Sales Engineer Henri-Francois Chadeisson created a dashboard to do just that. It looks at how foot and vehicle travel ebb and flow over a three-week period. His dashboard shows which areas tend to have the most traffic, as well as how air quality fared in these areas during the timeframe–all using public data.

Check out the dashboard and see what you find. Ideally, all municipal governments could use this type of information to identify priority roads and areas for investments. Public officials could use the results from our dashboard to adjust legislation on infrastructure and air quality.

Want to learn more about how data visualization can be used to draw insight from public information? Check out our whitepaper on the digital transformation of municipal government. And if you’re interested in improving infrastructure as much as we are, take a look at the dashboard we did a few months back showing vehicle accident patterns in Spain.
