When I speak with customers, I often hear about how they need to work with small pockets of data discovery users across their organization. These users rely on tools like Qlik, Tableau, and Power BI because they provide quick and easy access to data visualization functionality. Unfortunately, they also lack governance, which results in the growth of data silos and poor scalability—a key challenge for any organization striving to become an Intelligent Enterprise.
What I’ve realized from all these conversations is that both individual users and the organization as a whole are better off in a world where these different tools and data sources can work well together. To address this predicament, MicroStrategy recently announced the availability of new connectors for Qlik, Tableau, and Power BI. These connectors help solve a big need for many of our large enterprise customers. They provide a governed, flexible environment that allows business users to leverage trusted MicroStrategy data from within various data discovery tools.
If I’ve learned anything during my time in the analytics space, it’s that user preferences and behavior can be difficult to change. So, stop fighting with your users—with these new connectors MicroStrategy is able to easily co-exist with other BI tools. By using RESTful APIs, it can surface pre-processed data in JSON format and serve as a plug-and-play source of trusted data for all business users—regardless of their preferred data discovery tool.
