As once—common enterprise concerns around transitioning to the cloud continue to disappear, organizations are identifying and prioritizing the business initiatives that can benefit most from a cloud deployment. Business intelligence is at the top of that list.
Dresner Advisory Services' 2019 Cloud Computing and Business Intelligence Market Study shows user confidence in the cloud has increased sharply over the last few years to reach an all-time high in 2019 - with the majority of organizations (51%) now using cloud BI versus traditional on-premises offerings. This has doubled from just 25% in 2016. Imagine what this percentage will be in just three more years.
The study also reveals that in 2019, very large businesses showed the most dramatic increase in cloud adoption. This gives more and more enterprise organizations the access and agility that was once a competitive edge for smaller organizations that often started in the cloud.
More highlights from the eighth annual market study:
- Private cloud deployments are being used by most respondents today (43%), followed by public (33%), and then hybrid cloud deployments (18%)
- Top user cloud BI feature requirements include advanced visualization, ad-hoc query, and personalized dashboards
- This year’s study shows that data security, the primary barrier to cloud BI deployment, is less of a concern than in previous years
Only 18% of the organizations surveyed for the study have no plans to use cloud BI in 2019.
