In a global study from Avanade, 61% of B2B buyers stated user reviews were more important than even information coming from the brand itself.

In the business technology space, G2 Crowd has become a well-known review spot for B2B buyers. Authenticating users and reviewers via their LinkedIn profiles, the review platform now leverages more than 150,000 independent and authenticated user reviews that are read by nearly 750,000 buyers each month. G2Crowd also creates reports based on the review data to make it even easier for buyers to compare and contrast reviewed technologies in specific business categories.

Recently, G2 Crowd provided an authenticated user review comparison report for business intelligence platforms including MicroStrategy, Oracle BI, SAP Business Objects and IBM Cognos. This report rates vendors in more than 25 ways including product direction, ease of setup and use, data discovery, dashboards, customization, and mobile user support. It also features a comparison Grid℠ where products are ranked by customer satisfaction (based on user reviews) and market presence (based on market share, vendor size, and social impact).

Based on results, reviewed brands are placed in one of four categories on the Grid℠:

  • Leaders are rated highly by G2 Crowd users and have substantial scale, market share, and global support and services resources
  • High Performers are highly rated by their users, but have not yet achieved the market share and scale of the Leaders
  • Contenders have significant market presence and resources, but have received below average user satisfaction ratings or have not yet received a sufficient number of reviews to validate the solution
  • Niche solutions do not have the market presence of Leaders. They may have been rated positively on customer satisfaction, but have not yet received enough reviews to validate them
