Gemini Trust Company, LLC (Gemini) is a cryptocurrency exchange and custodian that allows customers to buy, sell, and store more than 30 cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ether, litecoin, and Zcash. Gemini is a New York trust company that is subject to the capital reserve requirements, cybersecurity requirements, and banking compliance standards set forth by the New York State Department of Financial Services and the New York Banking Law. Gemini was founded in 2014 by twin brothers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss to empower the individual through crypto.
Global Head of Business Development
David Abner is the Global Head of Business Development at Gemini, a cryptocurrency exchange and custodian. In this role David oversees the expansion of Gemini’s institutional business and leads the relationships with major institutional partners and high-net-worth individuals on a global scale.
Prior to joining Gemini, David spent the last 20 years focusing on driving the growth of the Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) industry. He was instrumental in bringing ETFs from a fringe arbitrage trading tool to an investment product utilized by institutional asset managers, reaching more than 7 trillion in AuM. His most recent book, The ETF Handbook (Wiley Finance) describes the inner workings of ETFs and how to achieve efficient portfolio implementation and execution.
Most recently, David was the CEO of the European Division of WisdomTree Asset Management and a member of their global executive committee. He joined the firm as a startup and helped it grow to more than $60 billion in assets under management. Prior to that he held Managing Director roles at BNP Paribas and Bear Stearns & Co, Inc.
President and CFO, MicroStrategy
Phong Le has served as President & Chief Financial Officer since July 2020, and has previously served in various senior executive positions, including Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, since joining MicroStrategy in August 2015. Prior to joining MicroStrategy, Mr. Le served as the chief financial officer of XO Communications, a privately‐held telecommunications company, from August 2014 to August 2015. From March 2010 to August 2014, Mr. Le held senior positions at NII Holdings, a Nasdaq‐listed telecommunications company, including vice president of financial planning and analysis, vice president of strategy and business operations, and vice president of strategic finance. Prior to that, Mr. Le worked in the consulting practice at Deloitte from 1998 to 2010, where he held various positions, including senior manager. Mr. Le holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and an M.B.A. from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
