AI Consumer Users leverage MicroStrategy's modern suite of analytics consumption interfaces to interact with data. Powered by MicroStrategy Cloud, AI Consumer Users can discover insights with conversational AI as they view and share MicroStrategy Dashboards, HyperIntelligence cards, reports, and documents. AI Consumer Users can access data through external application integrations, including Microsoft Office, PowerBI, and Tableau. They can utilize MicroStrategy's AI/BI platform on both web and mobile applications, allowing them to consume analytics wherever they work.

AI Power User

AI Power Users use MicroStrategy's intuitive authoring tools and advanced analytics capabilities to create applications and distribute data-driven insights to their organizations. The AI Power Users have access to all licenses included in the AI Consumer User bundle with the addition of Client – Web, Server – Intelligence, Server – Analytics. AI Power Users can create, design, save, and share MicroStrategy Dashboards, HyperIntelligence cards, reports, and documents.

AI Architect User

AI Architect Users have full control of the MicroStrategy AI/BI platform to create and manage MicroStrategy Cloud environments. AI Architect Users have access to a comprehensive collection of tools used for administration, development, and testing, including Workstation, Developer, Architect, Integrity Manager, and Object Manager. AI Architect Users can manage multiple enterprise platforms and cloud platform environments from a single interface. AI Architect Users manage project schema and build centralized data models. They can control users, user groups, applications, dashboards, documents, cards, reports, and datasets. AI Architect Users can also manage certificates, licenses, and get right-click access to platform analytics. With tools that compare SQL, data, reports, and dashboards between environments and copy objects within or across projects, system integrity verification and life cycle management is made easy for AI Architects.

Cloud Reporter User

Cloud Reporter Users can view, execute, and interact with reports, dashboards, and documents via MicroStrategy Cloud in a Web browser. MicroStrategy enables organizations to efficiently disseminate analytics and data-driven insights. Cloud Reporter Users can subscribe to and receive distributed content as well as share personalized content with other users.

Cloud Transaction

Cloud Transaction is an add-on available for MicroStrategy Cloud customers that enables users to leverage write-back functionality in documents, dashboards, and mobile apps. Business users can add data to a transactional grid, modify data in the grid, or take actions through Python or SQL scripts. Python scripts can be executed to update records in any software that offers a public endpoint or API. Business users can make selections using a variety of standard input selectors and advanced inputs such as signature, surveys, and image capture. Architects can build transactional input controls into documents and configure write-back to web services, using XQuery and to databases, using SQL. The Cloud Transaction add-on is available on top of AI Consumer User, AI Power User, AI Architect User, or Cloud Reporter User and is supported with Cloud Platforms for AWS, Azure, and GCP.

MicroStrategy AI User

MicroStrategy AI User is designated to specific users with unrestricted use of MicroStrategy AI. This license offers MicroStrategy Cloud-powered functionalities that include artificial intelligence-assisted data exploration, automated dashboards design processes, SQL generation tools, and ML-based visualization methods. MicroStrategy AI User is included in the AI Consumer User, AI Power User, and AI Architect User packages.

MicroStrategy AI

MicroStrategy AI is an extension of the MicroStrategy platform, integrating specific artificial intelligence capabilities to all users, bound by a total AI question limit (20,000). Designed to accommodate various user roles, MicroStrategy AI provides a set of tools that utilize machine learning and artificial intelligence for data analysis and representation, enhancing the MicroStrategy Analytics platform's data processing and presentation capabilities. This license offers MicroStrategy Cloud-powered functionalities that include artificial intelligence-assisted data exploration, automated dashboards design processes, SQL generation tools, and ML-based visualization methods.

Cloud Support

Cloud Support is provided to MicroStrategy Cloud customers and includes environment configuration, enterprise data warehouse integration, authentication (SSO/OIDC), and application integration. It includes Standard Support for the Cloud Platform version of MicroStrategy products provided with such products pursuant to your contract with MicroStrategy and our Technical Support Policies and Procedures, except that all cloud customers are entitled to four Support Liaisons. 

Cloud Elite Support

Cloud Elite Support is an extension of Cloud Support. It offers faster initial response times and more frequent updates for Priority 1 and Priority 2 issues. MicroStrategy Cloud customers also benefit from an additional four Support Liaisons (eight total), weekly case management meetings, quarterly service reviews, location-based support, and service alerts. 

Support Liaison

A Support Liaison is a designated individual on a customer's Support Center team who has access to software updates and may contact MicroStrategy Support via portal, email, or telephone to log or escalate cases.

Standard Support

Standard Support is a subscription that provides on premises customers with maintenance support, product updates, access to Community, and access to support services for two Support Liaisons via the online Support Center, email, or phone. Product updates are released on a quarterly basis. Hotfixes and patches are released on an as need basis for urgent security, performance, or stability issues and are folded into each quarterly update.

Extended Support

Extended Support provides 24/7 telephone support to on premises customers for Priority 1 and Priority 2 critical issues. Two additional Support Liaisons (four total) have access to software updates and may contact support via portal, email, or telephone. Additionally, a total of four Architect Education Passes are available for the duration of the Extended Support subscription. Extended Support is an add-on to Standard Support sold on a per DSI basis.

Premier Support

Premier Support provides 24/7 telephone support to on premises customers for Priority 1 and Priority 2 critical issues and a dedicated resource to perform case management tasks. Four additional Support Liaisons (six total) have access to software updates and may contact support via portal, email, or telephone. The dedicated resource provides weekly case status updates, acts as a single escalation point, and helps to develop future plans for upgrades and feature adoption. Additionally, a total of six Architect Education Passes are available for the duration of the Premier Support subscription. Premier Support is an is an add-on to Standard Support sold on a per DSI basis.

Elite Support

The pass includes courseware to design and implement a best-in-class enterprise and analytics architecture. The pass includes all additional MicroStrategy courseware including Business User, Departmental Analyst, Enterprise Analyst, Developer, and Administrator courses. Courses are updated regularly to reflect latest product features.

Education Pass - Analyst

The Education Pass - Analyst is a 12-month user subscription that provides access to all live or on-demand courses and annual certifications specific to Analysts. The pass includes Business User and Departmental Analyst courseware. Courses are updated regularly to reflect latest product features.

Education Services

Education Services provides custom courseware and classes adapted to each customer's application standards, data sets, customizations, and use cases. Business Users, Analysts, and Architects can experience courseware that directly matches their environment and uses relevant examples, workflows, and data. These services are purchased on an hourly basis and include customized training design and delivery.

Education Portal

The Education Portal is a customized learning page, hosted on MicroStrategy.com, that centralizes your learning content, from custom courses to project overviews and how-to videos, all alongside Education courses and certifications. The portal includes access for 12 months for all employees, 80 hours of Education Services to build customer-specific videos and training material or for private trainings delivery, and access to all Analyst Pass courses & certification (Business User and Departmental Analyst learning paths) and Workshops.

Client - Web

Client – Web enables users to access MicroStrategy's analytical capabilities in the legacy Web interface. For Analysts and Architects, Client – Web provides a comprehensive MicroStrategy experience for creating complete analytics applications with create and edit controls for application objects and schema objects. For Administrators, Client – Web provides controls to administering applications, environments, users, and user security. Client – Web is supported in all modern browsers.

Client - Mobile

Client – Mobile is a collection of apps and services that enable the deployment of mobile analytics and productivity apps to users via their smartphones and tablets. Client – Mobile lets Architects build custom mobile-optimized apps that contain analytics, visualizations, transactions, multimedia, and personalizations—combined in custom workflows. The apps can then be deployed securely via internal or external app stores with customized app icon and splash screens. Client – Mobile also lets business users consume mobile-optimized versions of dashboards and documents on their smartphones and tablets via native Library apps. Client – Mobile provides support for both iOS and Android.

Client - Reporter

Client – Reporter is an analytics license that allows users to consume MicroStrategy analytics applications. Client – Reporter is a runtime license that lets end users view reports, documents, and dashboards via browser-based applications. Client – Reporter users can be configured to receive personalized views of the information, and leverage row-level data security when accessing application content. Client – Reporter is supported in all modern browsers.

Client - Application - API

Client – Application – API lets users consume federated data and services in custom applications built by developers using the REST API. MicroStrategy’s REST APIs integrate with external applications, push external data into MicroStrategy, extract subsets of pre-processed data in JSON format to be used in other custom applications, and leverage all the REST API families available in the MicroStrategy REST Framework. Developers can use the MicroStrategy REST API programmatically in their own code, or in a tool like curl.

Client - Application - Tableau

Client – Application – Tableau is a gateway that allows Tableau Analysts to connect to a MicroStrategy environment and extract data to be visualized within the Tableau interface. The gateway lets Tableau Analysts import data from reports or cubes, specify whether to import all data or a subset of attributes and metrics, define filters on attribute elements when importing a data cube, preview data before importing, and refresh the data as necessary.

Client - Application - PowerBI

Client – Application – Power BI is a gateway that allows Power BI Analysts to connect to a MicroStrategy environment and extract data to be visualized within the Power BI interface. The gateway lets Power BI Analysts import data from reports or cubes, specify whether to import all data or a subset of attributes and metrics, define filters on attribute elements when importing a data cube, preview data before importing, and refresh the data as necessary.

Client - Application - Office

Client – Application – Office empowers a seamless office experience with MicroStrategy, supporting Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams through a user-friendly add-in infrastructure. Users can connect securely to the MicroStrategy environment within Office tools, unlocking the potential of MicroStrategy Library's business-tailored features, including custom groups, applications, and content discovery. Users can craft compelling PowerPoint presentations with pixel-perfect Dashboard visualizations, effortlessly pin Dashboards to Teams channels for swift collaboration, and import data directly into Excel from Dashboards, Reports, Cubes and Datasets. Users can experience the power of MicroStrategy within the Office 365 portfolio on Mac, Windows, and the Web.

Client - Architect

Client – Hyper – Web is a browser extension that enables HyperIntelligence for all users on the websites and web applications they visit. Client – Hyper – Web scans the words on visited webpages and underlines relevant keywords. Users can hover over any highlighted keyword to see insights presented on cards. Cards temporarily render on top of the web browser. Cards present associated attributes and metrics and also provide dynamic shortcuts to related content. Cards can present near real-time information securely sourced from multiple information systems via a MicroStrategy environment. Architects build cards from a range of flexible templates and deploy them to users via Workstation. Client – Hyper – Web is supported for Chrome browsers.

Client - Hyper - Mobile

Client – Hyper – Mobile is a mobile app that enables HyperIntelligence for all users on their mobile devices. Client – Hyper – Mobile lets users search for cards in the app and on the device search. Client – Hyper – Mobile automatically searches calendar reminders for keyword matches and alerts the user to relevant cards via device notifications. Client – Hyper – Mobile caches cards on the device for performance and offline access. Cards present associated attributes and metrics and also provide dynamic shortcuts to related content. Cards can present near real-time information securely sourced from multiple information systems via a MicroStrategy environment. Architects build cards from a range of flexible templates and deploy them to users via Workstation. Client – Hyper – Mobile is supported for iOS and Android.

Client - Hyper - Office

Client – Hyper – Office enables HyperIntelligence in Microsoft Office applications. The Client – Hyper – Office installation is deployed to all Outlook users by Microsoft Administrators. Client – Hyper – Office scans the words in selected emails and shows a list of matched keywords in the add-in. Cards present associated attributes and metrics and also provide dynamic shortcuts to related content. Cards can present near real-time information securely sourced from multiple information systems via a MicroStrategy environment. Architects build cards from a range of flexible templates and deploy them to users via Workstation. Client – Hyper – Office is supported for Outlook on Mac, Outlook on Windows, and Outlook 365.

Client – Hyper – SDK

Client – Hyper – SDK is a JavaScript SDK that allows you to quickly add HyperIntelligence to your own websites. The Client – Hyper – SDK is comprised of JavaScript and stylesheet files, as well as images and fonts. Most HyperIntelligence features are supported in the SDK, including finding and highlighting keywords on web pages, showing cards when hovering over a highlighted keyword, and the ability to copy & share cards. To enable HyperIntelligence with the SDK on your web page, you will need to configure the SDK to connect to a HyperIntelligence Service instance.

 Server – Reporter

 Server – Reporter is the corresponding server product for the Reporter Client. When combined with the Client – Reporter, Server – Reporter lets consumer users view and interact with reports, documents, dashboards, and cards. Server – Reporter also includes authentication and authorization capabilities, including basic user authentication to log in to the MicroStrategy analytics platform using MicroStrategy security product functionality. It provides all of the supporting Server functionality to enable users to execute the supporting queries, access data directly from connected enterprise assets, access data stored server cache, apply security controls, apply personalization, and leverage any multi-node server capabilities as configured by the Administrator (clustering, failover, work fencing, etc.). Server – Reporter is supported with Enterprise Platform on Windows and Linux and Cloud Platform with AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Server – Intelligence

Server - Intelligence is the architectural foundation of the analytics platform that powers all of the clients (except for Client – Reporter) and allows end users to design, create, and save analytical objects and applications that can be delivered via web and mobile. Server - Intelligence also includes authentication and authorization capabilities, including basic user authentication to log-in to the MicroStrategy analytics platform using MicroStrategy security product functionality. It includes clustering and caching capabilities to drive high performance, a robust SQL and Analytical engine for complex computations and queries, an object-oriented security model, and a multi-source engine that can access data from multiple sources. Server - Intelligence is supported with Enterprise Platform on Windows and Linux and Cloud Platform with AWS and Azure.

Server – Transaction

Server – Transaction enables users to leverage write-back functionality in documents, dashboards, and mobile apps. Business users can add data to a transactional grid, modify data in the grid, or take actions through Python or SQL scripts. Python scripts, enabled only on MCE, can be executed to update records in any software that offers a public endpoint or API. Business users can make selections using a variety of standard input selectors and advanced inputs such as signature, surveys, and image capture. On premises and MCE Architects can build transactional input controls into documents and configure write-back to databases using SQL.

Server – Collaboration

Server – Collaboration lets business users communicate and collaborate within dashboards. Users can exchange messages, tag users, and share filter selections via a chat interface built into the dashboard user interface. Users can add comments to a page-level discussion thread to ask questions, provide additional information, or offer insight to the group of users who have access to the dashboards. Users are alerted to new comments via email or by push notification to the Library app on their mobile device. Server – Collaboration is supported in Library for Web and the mobile Library apps (available on iOS and Android). Server – Collaboration is an add-on available on top of the Server – Intelligence license.

Server – Analytics

Server – Analytics lets users access in-memory cubes of data which increase performance and add analytical capabilities. Business users gain performance benefits when their Web, Mobile, and Hyper applications access in-memory cubes as the data is pre-aggregated by the analytical engine and ready for presentation. Analysts gain performance improvements and new analytics capabilities when analyzing data and building applications using in-memory cubes. Analysts can page-by, pivot, sort, and subtotal data without having to re-execute SQL against data warehouse(s). In-memory cubes also add in-memory support for derived metrics, derived elements, view filters, metric filters, and metric and attribute thresholds. Server - Analytics also adds a range of functionality to support the application and use of predictive models and algorithms. Server – Analytics is an add-on available on top of the Server – Intelligence license.

Server – Distribution

Server – Distribution lets users subscribe to and receive reports, documents, dashboards, and alerts to email addresses, file servers, networked printers, FTP locations, and devices such as mobile phones. Server - Distribution is set up and enabled by an Administrator in Workstation. Administrators can subscribe one or more users to a delivery. Users can also subscribe themselves and others to subscriptions via Library. Subscriptions can be triggered on a time/date schedule or by an event (e.g. ETL load complete). Subscriptions can also be triggered by a condition on a metric being met (e.g. inventory below a threshold) enabling system-wide data monitoring and alerting. Server - Distribution uses bursting to efficiently and dynamically personalize content to different users within the same subscription. Architects can use Distribution to create mobile subscriptions that push new data and content to Mobile apps using background refresh. Users can also manually create subscriptions to reports and documents in Mobile. Server - Distribution is an add-on available on top of the Server – Intelligence license.

Server – Geospatial

Server – Geospatial lets users visualize and interact with data on maps. Server – Geospatial uses an advanced mapping solution that renders vector-based maps faster and smoother to visualize geospatial data. Server - Geospatial includes 10 different base maps on which data can be rendered. Analysts can build mapping visualizations that plot and color polygons, shapes, and areas based on their location data and metrics. Mapping visualizations can plot and render geospatial data from countries down to ZIP codes. Server – Geospatial also provides up-to-date location data to help Analysts supplement partial geographic data and resolve location name conflicts. Server – Geospatial is available in dashboards in Desktop, Workstation, Web, and Library. Server – Geospatial is an add-on available on top of the Server – Intelligence license.

Drivers – OLAP

Drivers – OLAP is a collection of Drivers to Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) cube sources. With Drivers – OLAP, Analysts can explore and interact with data stored in MDX cubes and Architects can build applications that incorporate the MDX data. Intelligence Server converts data stored in an MDX cube source into MicroStrategy objects using the MDX language. Analysts combine Drivers – OLAP with Hierarchical Reporting visualizations to render the multidimensional nature of data stored in MDX cubes. Drivers – OLAP includes support for IBM Cognos TM1, Oracle Essbase, and Microsoft Analysis Services.

Drivers – Big Data

Drivers - Big Data is a collection of drivers and gateways to Big Data sources. MicroStrategy supports and certifies connectivity with several Big Data SQL engines. With Drivers – Big Data, users can connect with ODBC and JDBC drivers to over 25 Big Data sources (such as Cloudera CDH, Pivotal, Amazon EMR, and Hortonworks HDP). Drivers – Big Data also includes the MicroStrategy Hadoop Gateway, a direct access gateway to HDFS sources. The Hadoop Gateway lets users bypass the SQL query engines and load the data directly from the file system into in-memory cubes.
