MicroStrategy's Newest Release Delivers More than 6x Greater Capacity with 3x Faster Response Time
An 8-CPU configuration of MicroStrategy Intelligence Server version 9.0.2 (MicroStrategy 9 Release 3) can deliver a sustained output power rating of 147 KiloCycles which equates to 147,000 round-trip queries per hour. This query volume can support over 26,000 active users with an average user response time of 1.3 seconds. The earlier version of MicroStrategy version 9.0 running on the same hardware delivered a power rating of 22 KiloCycles which can support the query load of approximately 3,900 active users with an average response time of 4.0 seconds.
The impact of these findings are that MicroStrategy customers will be able to support 6 times greater usage with 3x times faster average response by simply by upgrading their software from version 9.0 to version 9.0.2. Read more »
MicroStrategy Software Breaks the 100,000 User Barrier Using only 32 CPUs
MicroStrategy Intelligence Server can support more than 100,000 active users while delivering average response times under 2 seconds. In lab tests, a 4-node clustered configuration of MicroStrategy Intelligence Server with 32 CPU cores delivered a power rating of 560 KiloCycles, which equates to 560,000 round-trip queries per hour. This query volume was sustained while supporting over 100,000 active users, which can be extrapolated to a total user population of 500,000 people.
The significance of these test results is that customers can increase their MicroStrategy Intelligence Server hardware and expect near linear scalability in both single-node and clustered configurations, allowing for an even greater number of active users supported as well as higher power ratings. MicroStrategy Software Can Support over 40,000 Mobile iPhone Users on an 8-CPU Server Configuration
MicroStrategy can support approximately 42,000 active iPhone users on an 8-CPU configuration, delivering average response times as fast as 1.6 seconds. This user population equates to approximately 210,000 actual users assuming a 20% ratio of active users to total users. The test results further show that MicroStrategy was capable of sustaining such response times even as query volumes were increased to 775 KiloCycles, which equates to 775,000 round-trip queries per hour. The system exhibited the same performance behavior on both WiFi and 3G networks.
The implication of these findings is that MicroStrategy customers can confidently deploy mobile BI solutions to larger user populations, without enormous investments in hardware, while delivering the fast response times that people expect from mobile devices. Read more »
