For example, MicroStrategy’s dashboards can be made from existing reports and objects, speeding development and ensuring consistency of report logic across reports and dashboards.
• Single Server and Centralized Administration: MicroStrategy’s single BI server provides efficient, centralized administration for the IT administrator. A single server with fewer moving parts and processes translates into less downtime.

OBIEE Plus

• Acquired Disjointed Technologies: Oracle does not offer a unified BI platform with a single code base. OBIEE Plus is an unproven attempt to integrate the former Siebel Business Analytics Platform, Hyperion BI and Oracle Business applications with limited references to successful customer implementations.
• Multiple Metadatas and Servers: OBIEE Plus has multiple metadata repositories, administration tools and servers, all of which are legacies from product families acquired in the past.

• Single Reusable Metadata Repository: MicroStrategy’s object-oriented metadata defines the enterprise’s business layer in a single repository. Metadata objects can be nested as building blocks to create more complex objects.
• Automatic Change Management: If a metadata object changes, every dependent object changes automatically. This ensures consistency across business definitions and minimizes the number of objects to create and maintain.

OBIEE Plus

• Limited Reusable Metadata Definitions: OBIEE Plus does not have a suite-wide central metadata repository. BI Presentation Services metadata cannot be fully reused to create documents in Oracle BI Publisher.
• No Automatic Change Management: The BI Server repository lacks automatic change management and dependency-checking functionality. Users can break BI Publisher reports simply by changing a report name in the Presentation Services server metadata. An administrator can break a report or dashboard just by changing a column alias in the Oracle BI Server repository.

• Single Point of Monitoring and Administration: MicroStrategy provides a single centralized console for real-time user and system management and an out-of-the box BI environment monitoring application.
• Robust Life Cycle Management: MicroStrategy Object Manager facilitates metadata life cycle management, automatic dependency checking, and project management.
• Automated Integrity Checking: An automated process verifies the consistency of reports. This tool detects, compares, and presents discrepancies in data values, SQL, and graph display.

OBIEE Plus

• Multiple Monitoring and Administration Points: OBIEE Plus provides multiple management consoles, each stemming from a different acquired product family such as Siebel, XML Publisher and Hyperion.
• Limited Life Cycle Management: Oracle Business Intelligence Catalog Manager is a limited life cycle management tool with no metadata dependency checker or conflict resolution capability.
• No Automated Integrity Checking: OBIEE Plus does not offer a product to automate the report comparison process and verify report consistency.
