- Automatic Drill Anywhere: Users can seamlessly drill anywhere for boundary-free investigative analysis across multiple data sources.
- Complex On-the-Fly Calculations and Groupings: Users can instantly create new derived metrics, derived attribute element groups, filters, and subtotals using existing report metrics and attributes. This functionality makes it possible for users to perform new calculations, custom groupings, and filtering directly on the report.
OBIEE Plus
- Limited and Hard-Coded Drilling: Oracle BI Answers is mainly designed as an ad hoc query tool and provides limited OLAP analysis capabilities through the interface. Automatic drill anywhere is not supported out-of-the-box. Users generally must drill down one level at a time within the same hierarchy. In order to drill across, IT must predefine drill paths or hard-code links to reports. Drilling up is achieved with the browser’s back button.
- No On-the-Fly Calculations and Groupings: Oracle Answers does not provide OLAP functionality such as create derived elements, custom groups or consolidations.

- Iterative Multi-Pass SQL Capabilities: MicroStrategy’s ability to generate multi-pass SQL allows it to answer analytical questions that require several steps and cannot be answered with a single SQL query block.
- Reusable Analysis Objects and Complex Definitions: MicroStrategy’s analysis objects can be defined with a high degree of complexity. For example, a custom group can be based on a mix of metric qualifications and multiple attributes at different levels. The reusability of these analysis objects allows business users to answer sophisticated questions without requiring IT coding and promotes more efficient application development.
OBIEE Plus
- No Iterative Multi-Pass SQL Capabilities: Oracle BI Server provides a limited multi-pass SQL engine with no support for temporary database tables. This means that every intermediate pass is pulled into the middle tier for further analysis.
- Limited Support for Complex Definitions: OBIEE Plus offers limited support for complex definitions such as conditional metrics with set conditions, custom groups defined with a mix of metric qualifications and attributes at different levels, and set analysis with multi-attribute comparisons.

- Seamless Integration of Predictive Analytics with Casual Reporting: Report designers and analysts can view and build predictive analytics using MicroStrategy and then distribute them via dashboards and reports to relevant decision makers and stakeholders.
OBIEE Plus
- No Out-of-the-Box Support for Predictive Analytics: OBIEE Plus does not offer an out-of-the-box BI platform with data mining scoring capabilities. Oracle BI Server does not support and provide out-of-the-box popular predictive algorithms, does not provide interoperability, and cannot leverage investments with other data mining products via PMML.
- No Integration of Predictive Analytics and Casual Reporting: OBIEE Plus users cannot combine the results of a database query with the results of a data mining algorithm into a single report.
