Fast and Intuitive User Experience

User-Friendly Interface

MicroStrategy 9

  • Intuitive and Familiar Paradigms: The MicroStrategy Web interface leverages many familiar user-friendly paradigms, including folder-tree navigation, ribbon toolbars, accordion controls, control-click multi-select, and context-sensitive right-click actions.
  • Personalized Web Reporting Interface: MicroStrategy Web allows users to format reports and save custom format styles. These include row-level headers and values, column-level headers and values, metric headers and values, subtotal headers and values, custom groups, consolidation, and reports.

OBIEE Plus

  • Multiple Cumbersome Paradigms: OBIEE Plus has multiple Web environments with different levels of functionality and design paradigms that users must learn. These interfaces offer limited support for ribbon toolbars, accordion controls, control-click multi-select capabilities and context-sensitive right click actions.
  • Limited Personalization: OBIEE Plus Web interfaces do not allow users to save personalized custom format styles.
  • No User Collaboration: OBIEE Plus does not offer out-of-the-box collaboration capabilities for users to interact and share valuable information across all reports.

Instant Response to User Actions

MicroStrategy 9

  • Extreme AJAX Web interface: The MicroStrategy Web architecture provides high performance with an Extreme AJAX model, shifting processing from the Web server to the Web browser—all major Web browsers, in fact. By spreading the processing workload, the user is given a much more responsive and interactive Web experience while still preserving a true zero-footprint Web interface.

OBIEE Plus

  • Disjointed Extreme AJAX Architecture: OBIEE Plus does not offer a single architecture that leverages an extreme AJAX architecture for the whole platform. Oracle offers a legacy of multiple acquired disjointed technologies.
  • No Extreme AJAX Web Interface: Oracle BI Presentation Services and Oracle BI Publisher lack extreme AJAX technology, increasing server response time.

Dynamic Report Personalization

MicroStrategy 9

  • Unified Prompting Architecture: MicroStrategy offers a single prompting architecture throughout the BI platform. Users can create prompts, use them to create other reports, and share them with users across all 5 styles of BI. Users can save prompt answers as part of their profiles.
  • Comprehensive Prompting Capabilities: A single report can automatically support hundreds of possible report variations. Advanced report parameters, like object and hierarchy prompts, allow users to pick any business attributes and KPIs to include in the report.

OBIEE Plus

  • Disjointed Prompting Architecture: OBIEE Plus offers different prompting technologies for different products. BI Publisher offers limited prompting capabilities out-of-the-box and does not support BI Answers prompted reports. Users cannot save their personal answers to prompts as part of their profiles.
  • Limited Prompting Capabilities: OBIEE Plus does not support sophisticated prompts such as selection of attributes, metrics, report templates, hierarchical prompts, based on a search criteria or other filters, all used to create a report on-the-fly. Users cannot save responses.

Highly Interactive Mobile BI Experience

MicroStrategy 9

  • Wireless access from Multiple Devices: MicroStrategy allows users to run reports and dashboards directly on their BlackBerry and iPhone smart phones.
  • Mobile-Ready Reports and Dashboards: Because reports and dashboards in the BI application do not have to be re-authored for mobile devices, IT staff invest minimal effort for mobile deployments.
  • Fully Interactive Mobile BI Experience: Reports are cached directly on the BlackBerry for fast, offline viewing. Reports are fully interactive: Data can be sliced and sorted, and columns can be locked, resized, and reordered for effective metric comparisons.

OBIEE Plus

  • Wireless Access from Limited Devices: Oracle does not offer a mobile application for BlackBerry devices.
  • Dedicated Environments for Mobile Access: Oracle Business Indicators requires a dedicated Oracle BI Presentation Services server to display static charts as PNG graphics.
  • Static Mobile BI Experience: Oracle provides an application for the iPhone that provides a static view of Oracle Answers reports. Oracle Interactive Dashboards and Oracle BI Publisher documents are not accessible via the Oracle Business Indicators application.
