University Recruiting: Frequently Asked Questions
When will MicroStrategy be visiting my school for on-campus interviews?
Please refer to our University Recruiting Schedule on the right to check dates of Information Sessions and On-Campus Interviews. For specific times and locations refer to your university career center.
How do I submit my resume for an on-campus interview?
You should apply online via your university's career website (i.e. NACElink/Symplicity, eRecruiting, Interfase, etc.) for the specific job you are interested in or you can submit your resume to universityrecruiting@microstrategy.com. Please be sure to put the job title(s) in the subject line.
If I am interested in more than one position, should I apply for each?
Yes, please submit your resume to each position you are interested in. Different positions have different hiring managers who review and evaluate your fit for the specific position.
Do I need to attend the information session?
Should we hold an information session on your campus, you are not required to attend. However, by attending you will get the opportunity to learn more about the company and the position(s) you are applying for. In addition you will have a chance to meet the interviewers in a more casual and relaxed atmosphere. If you are someone who is interested in joining MicroStrategy, but were not scheduled for an on-campus interview, please feel free to attend the information session so we can speak with you about our employment opportunities.
What do I need to bring to the interview(s)?
Please be sure to bring an up-to-date copy of your resume to the interview.
When should I arrive?
To be safe, you should plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled interview time. Please contact the career center if you are unable to make it on time.
What will be asked during the interview?
- The interviewer will ask questions to assess your technical skills (knowledge of programming languages as shown on your resume).
- The interviewer will ask questions to evaluate your analytical skills (your ability to think through problems and come up with solutions). Expect analytical/logic-based questions.
- The interviewer will evaluate your communication skills and ask questions to assess your ability to work in a team environment.
How long will the interview be?
Depending on the position you are interviewing for, interviews can last from 30 to 45 minutes.
What is the dress code?
Our dress code is business casual, but you will want to dress more formally for the interview.
I've completed my on-campus interview, what happens next?
You will be notified approximately two weeks after your on-campus interview with the results. If you have been selected to move on in the process, we will schedule a second round interview. These second round onsite interviews will also serve as your final round interviews and last chance to make an impression on the hiring managers.
