Sybase Announces "MicroStrategy Powered" Version of Industry Warehouse Studios

Partnership includes an investment by Sybase in technology integration to bundle business intelligence with CRM and Business Performance Management (BPM) applications

EMERYVILLE, CA, November 1, 1999 -- Sybase® , Inc. (Nasdaq: SYBS) today announced a comprehensive, multi-year licensing, technology and service agreement with MicroStrategy Incorporated (NASDAQ: MSTR). The alliance offers customers MicroStrategy’s Intelligent E-Business™ software coupled with customer relationship management (CRM) and business performance management (BPM) applications. Under the terms of the partnership, Sybase will embed and re-market MicroStrategy Intelligent E-Business™ Platform for the Industry Warehouse Studios™ (IWS) offerings; thereby leveraging MicroStrategy’s core analysis, personalization, and broadcast technology within Sybase’s complement of analytical CRM and BPM applications.

Each of the Sybase Industry Warehouse Studios consists of five analytical customer relationship management applications and one industry-specific module. The suite of six applications, designed for sophisticated, business performance management and customer relationship management include:

Campaign analysis – allows for accurate understanding of target markets and enhances an organization’s understanding of the entire process, from selecting target markets to analyzing how they respond.

Customer Profile Analysis – enables customer segmentation and facilitates the growth of customer relationships through the careful demographic, psychographic and geographic analysis of groups and individuals.

Sales Analysis – provides a method of analyzing sales from a variety of viewpoints including channels, products, groups or regions and offers an integrated perspective on sales results, trends and patterns.

Loyalty Analysis – allows you to measure customer loyalty from different viewpoints such as duration of relationship; range of services and products consumed; and the demographic, psychographic and geographic influences on customer attrition.

Customer Care Analysis – provides valuable insight into the behavior of customers and the track records of the organizations servicing customers. The likely level of satisfaction or dissatisfaction of a customer can be determined by their customer and contact history.

Business Performance Management – utilizes the business event data specific to each industry to provide a focus on operational performance and profitability. It delivers operational scorecards and analytical reports along with key sales and marketing information. Each Industry Warehouse Studio's BPM is focused on the strategic analysis of business functions that are key to that industry. In addition, the profitability application provides a profitability model for each industry based on its patterns of operation and unique features.
