MicroStrategy and PriceInteractive Announce Strategic Technology and Service Agreement

PriceInteractive’s new SpeechPort™ Platform Selected to Enable MicroStrategy Voice Services

VIENNA, Va., October 16, 2000 -- MicroStrategy Incorporated (NASDAQ: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of Intelligent E-Business™ software, today announced that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with PriceInteractive, Inc., a leading speech Application Service Provider (ASP). MicroStrategy will use PriceInteractive’s SpeechPort™ platform to enable voice browsing for its suite of MicroStrategy Voice Services™ that deliver one-to-one messaging and information services. As part of this strategic relationship, MicroStrategy made a minority investment in PriceInteractive.

The relationship with PriceInteractive is designed to enable MicroStrategy customers to easily access business intelligence by using the power of MicroStrategy’s customer analytics and segmentation capability to dynamically create intelligent voice applications via telephone, mobile phone or voicemail system. Working with PriceInteractive, MicroStrategy and its customers are expected to be able to leverage the most common communications medium – the telephone – to deliver important information directly from a MicroStrategy data warehouse to virtually any telephone, mobile phone or voicemail system. Additionally, the relationship with PriceInteractive is expected to provide Strategy.com™, a subsidiary of MicroStrategy, with the infrastructure and capacity to create voice portals that direct and deliver high volumes of targeted, personalized information via the telephone.

“We believe that this relationship will enhance the solutions that we are able to provide to our customers and partners, as PriceInteractive offers tremendous expertise in deploying mission-critical, sophisticated speech based application services,” said Stephen S. Trundle, chief technology officer at MicroStrategy Incorporated. “We have long recognized the importance of providing personalized intelligence to individuals when and where they want to receive it – that goal is more easily attainable by leveraging the most commonly used communications medium in the world –the human voice over land and cellular based telephones.”

Dan Price, president and CEO of PriceInteractive, commented, “In the emerging mobile economy, customers that have access to business intelligence and information around the clock through multiple channels such as the Web and telephones can achieve important competitive advantages. Connecting the SpeechPort platform with MicroStrategy’s Voice Services means businesses will be able to capitalize on the continued growth of e-commerce by putting the applications in place that only require a phone and a human voice to access.”

“MicroStrategy’s Voice Services team has been an innovator in the B2B speech portal market,” said Mark Plakias, Vice President of Voice & Wireless Commerce at The Kelsey Group. “Their going-forward vision is exciting and will break new ground in the market. This win cements PriceInteractive’s position as the preferred address for high-volume, complex speech applications.”

PriceInteractive’s SpeechPort service is a new hosted offering that allows e-businesses, content providers and portals to provide speech-activated web content to end users through a natural speech interface. SpeechPort is delivered through a state-of-the-art, multi-tier service infrastructure that pairs a speech recognition engine from SpeechWorks International (NASDAQ: SPWX) with a carrier-grade telecom and wireless hosting facility. The service is built upon a Java enterprise environment that allows rapid insertion of new technologies and expansion of additional capacity.

PriceInteractive will expand its VoiceXML support by integrating MicroStrategy’s proprietary TML voice browser in the SpeechPort platform. This capability is designed to allow MicroStrategy and its customers to easily design and rapidly deploy new applications in a self-service environment.
