HNC Financial Solutions Announces ProfitVision for Large Financial Institutions

Robust Profitability Analysis Enabled by MicroStrategy ROLAP and High-Speed Client/Server Platform

SAN DIEGO, Ca., February 1, 1999 — HNC Financial Solutions has unveiled a new version of ProfitVision that leverages an Oracle-based client-server architecture, UNIX-based high-speed WAN access, and MicroStrategy’s powerful decision-support technology to enhance the performance of the enterprise-wide profitability analysis system for large financial institutions.

Already proven as a best-in-class profitability solution for small-to-mid-size banks, ProfitVision incorporates an interface to core accounting systems and ensures the accuracy of profitability measurement through matched-maturity funds transfer pricing and sophisticated cost-allocation methods, including activity-based costing. In the new release, ProfitVision’s powerful analytical techniques are combined with MicroStrategy’s flexible DSS simulation and reporting features to enable financial managers to view how decisions will affect customer, product, branch, and institution profitability.

ProfitVision was developed by Financial Technology, Inc., which HNC acquired in April. When reviewed by independent consultants and technology reports, ProfitVision typically gets very high marks for its profitability analysis feature set, but has been viewed as targeted at smaller institutions because of its NT platform. The new release not only enables ProfitVision to move up market, but also positions it for integration with the predictive software for which HNC Financial Solutions is known.

ProfitVision’s underlying database can be Oracle 7.3.4 or 8.0, DB2/UDB, MS SQL Server, or DB2/400; the system can run on NT, UNIX, AIX, or AS400 servers. The system has undergone successful benchmark testing in a financial institution with four million account records.
