MicroStrategy Announces Support for Informatica's New Business Components™ and PowerConnect™ Software Products
Integration Will Enable Users of MicroStrategy's DSS Suite to Quickly and Easily Deploy Business Intelligence Solutions Against ERP Data
VIENNA, VA, April 27, 1999 — MicroStrategy® Incorporated (NASDAQ: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of mission-critical decision support systems, today announced support for Business Components™ and PowerConnect™, new enterprise software products launched by Informatica Corporation. These products, which allow organizations to easily deploy enterprise intelligence solutions, complement MicroStrategy’s DSS Suite™ of business applications.
Business Components are software building blocks that significantly reduce the complexity of accessing operational data and populating analytic applications. PowerConnect is a family of packaged software products that help customers easily extract data and metadata from hard-to-access ERP and other legacy applications. By pairing MicroStrategy’s DSS Suite with these products, MicroStrategy customers now have complete solutions that leverage the latent value of organizational ERP data, transaction data, and data stored in legacy systems.
"Informatica’s new solutions will ensure that current and future MicroStrategy customers have end-to-end extraction solutions that address the requirements of the most advanced enterprise implementations," said Sanju K. Bansal, chief operating officer at MicroStrategy Incorporated. "Global 2000 organizations who utilize these solutions in conjunction with MicroStrategy’s DSS Suite can derive tremendous business benefits. We look forward to a continued strong relationship with Informatica.
"We share many joint customers who have benefited from pairing Informatica’s data integration software with their MicroStrategy implementation," said Diaz Nesamoney, president of Informatica. "MicroStrategy’s integration with Informatica’s new solutions will clearly add value to DBAs, power users and application developers by accelerating data warehouse development time and simplifying maintenance across all intelligence environments."
New Solutions Ease the Development Burden for ERP Intelligence Applications
Business Components are pre-defined application templates - on either the source data or target application side - that simplify and expedite the process of building, deploying and maintaining enterprise decision support solutions. Business Components leverage a unique semantic layer to deliver a business-level view of the source system and/or target analytic application from an analytical perspective rather than the more traditional transaction perspective found in most modeling tools and content-rich applications.
PowerConnect is a family of packaged software products that help customers easily extract data and metadata from hard-to-access ERP and other legacy applications. Products in the PowerConnect family include PowerConnect™ for SAP R/3, PowerConnect™ for PeopleSoft and PowerConnect™ for IBM DB2.
