Increased User Self-Service and Productivity

With OLAP Services, MicroStrategy places analytic flexibility into the hands of business users allowing them to create and modify their own reports, create new calculations from existing metrics or apply filter conditions to the report. With OLAP Services, accessing Intelligent Cubes for such fast OLAP analysis does not require processing on the data warehouse or IT management. Users can still seamlessly drill through to the full data warehouse with MicroStrategy's optimized relational OLAP engine.

Less Administrative Burden

OLAP Services relieves the IT department from having to create and maintain cube data. MicroStrategy's Intelligent Cube technology lets users manipulate reports on a multi-dimensional cache of data rather than a limited, proprietary cube database. Caches are instantly populated and new Intelligent Cubes are created when users run a report -- without IT assistance. Intelligent Cubes are built once and stored in MicroStrategy's unified metadata on the centralized server, where they can be shared across the enterprise. Administrators can ensure that business users always have the most current information by configuring the Intelligent Cube data to expire or refresh automatically.

Increased ROI

OLAP Services and Intelligent Cubes leverage organizations' existing IT infrastructures to provide more functionality and performance to more users. More user functionality and less maintenance leads to greater value from all enterprise BI applications.

Secure Sharing

When accessing Intelligent Cubes, OLAP Services automatically leverages the user and object security in the MicroStrategy platform. The individual report objects in an Intelligent Cube retain all of the security provisions of the underlying report objects that compose it. Those security provisions are dynamically applied to each user's security profile when the Intelligent Cube is accessed. For example if a user only has privileges to view four of five metrics contained in an Intelligent Cube, that user will only have access to the Intelligent Cube for those four metrics.
