Agenda: Introduction to Enterprise Business Intelligence with MicroStrategy 8


This one-day, hands-on introductory course discusses enterprise BI architecture, demonstrates business user interactivity, details BI application development, and covers BI application administration. Students will spend about one-half of the class exploring MicroStrategy 8 software with hands-on, instructor-driven exercises.

AGENDA SCHEDULE:**

Registration: 8:30AM–9:00AM
Morning Session: 9:00AM–12:30PM
Lunch: 12:30PM–1:30PM
Afternoon Session: 1:30PM–5:00PM
The class starts with the business user experience in the morning and finishes with the BI developer, architect, and administrator experience in the afternoon. A complimentary lunch will be served.

Interacting with data by slicing-and-dicing, pivoting, exporting, and more
Investigating by drilling anywhere within the database
Sharing critical information with your colleagues immediately
Creating your own analytical reports and dashboards intuitively
Defining key business terms and their relationships
Creating an application from scratch
Building business metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs), data filters, prompts, thresholds, and reports
AFTERNOON SESSION:  Analytics, Lowest Total Cost of Ownership, and Data Visualizations
Increasing the use of analytics within an organization to drive better business decisions
Performing advanced analysis with Data Mining and Predictive Analysis functions
Examining an object-oriented metadata with reusable report building blocks
Establishing enterprise-wide security
Managing enterprise BI applications
Enhancing comprehension using data visualizations
Incorporating advanced visualizations within your dashboards
