4. MicroStrategy 9 Certification Changes
For MicroStrategy 9, our MicroStrategy Certified Engineer (MCE) Program will be changing to include more content for the new release. The following changes will be made to the MCE Program:
1. Intermediate Step to Achieving MCE, new Comprehensive Certification: MCD – MicroStrategy Certified Developer
- We will have three focus area certifications to achieve MCD:
- Certified Project Designer (CPD) - no change
- Certified Report Developer (CRD) - includes only Desktop: Advanced Reporting as a course
- Certified Document Developer (CDD) – includes courses for Documents and Dashboards
- After a student passes each certification week (by passing the relevant certification exam), they then do a 3-day MCD project to achieve MCD status
2. If someone wants to achieve MCE, they have to first attain MCD status and then take one more focus area certification – Certified Platform Administrator (CPA). The CPA program consists of one instructor-led course and one online course with a certification exam.

3. If someone is already MCE certified, and they want to become MCE for version 9, there will be a 3-hour MCE renewal exam for them to upgrade their certification status to v9.
Note: Students are strongly advised to attend all of the What’s New in MicroStrategy 9 courses prior to the exam to ensure they have the required knowledge to pass the renewal exam.
5. MicroStrategy 9 Course Debut Schedule
MicroStrategy will be continually updating their existing version 8 courseware to version 9. Listed below is a tentative schedule of when you can expect version 9 training content to debut and the delivery format for that content. We are rolling out version 9 training in Phases with Phase I being the most frequently requested courses and instrumental to starting a project. Phase II are more advanced courses to build-upon the content offered in Phase I. MicroStrategy will provide further announcements in their upcoming education newsletter due out in late Summer and early Fall.
