Tao, Senior Quality Engineer
University of Maryland-College Park: M.S. Reliability Engineering
Tsinghua University, China: B.S. Automation Control
"I started in January 2007 as a software quality engineer. My responsibilities include testing various products in all stages of software lifecycle, testing and troubleshooting customer and field issues, designing and maintaining test cases, debugging problems, and analyzing test results.
"I chose to work at MicroStrategy because we have cutting-edge technology in Business Intelligence. The company is very promising since BI products are highly desired in the market and the company is expanding very quickly.
"I like that there are a lot of young people in the company. It’s always easy to find someone to hang around with. The working environment is quite relaxed. We don’t have strict dress code or working time. As long as you finish your work, you are good."

"The first thing I remember about interacting with MicroStrategy was at a career fair at UVA. I was going to look at the displays and see if I could talk about future employment and possibly score some freebies. There were usually huge companies with massive displays, suits, and briefcases; then there was one booth with two casually dressed people and a simple sign that read MicroStrategy. They were both very welcoming and not as formal. It was if I was having a conversation with another person, rather than strict interviewing rules. I felt relaxed and didn’t feel any pressure. It was nice compared to the other companies at the career fair.
"Overall, it was the welcoming atmosphere I experienced since the first moment I heard of MicroStrategy that attracted me to this company.
“My favorite thing about working here is the people. I feel as if I am part of a successful team here, and that motivates me to do the best job that I can because I want to help the department achieve its goals. All of my co-workers are very intelligent so I can depend on them for assistance. The company is very innovative and willing to adapt to address as many customer needs as possible. The dynamic and intelligent people at MicroStrategy are not only what make the work environment enjoyable, but they also produce the best product on the market.”
Nancy, Technical Support Engineer
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
B.S. Biology
"I wanted to work at Microstrategy as soon as I had my first interview. I could tell by the constant smiles and laughter that this would be a great place to work. They asked analytical questions that I really enjoyed solving. When I came on site, these beliefs were reaffirmed after seeing many of my current coworkers and talking to them. I also loved the location: a half hour from DC and next to the best mall in the area.
"As a Tech Support Engineer, I had a case where a customer had created users and tried deleting them, but did it incorrectly and had repercussions in her entire environment. They were rolling into production the next day, which means this issue would affect thousands tomorrow. While working on this problem, she complimented me numerous times on how although this was a huge issue for her, I made her feel comfortable that it would be solved and there would be no problems for her. It was such a sense of accomplishment to fix her issue and to know I sounded confident in discussing problems that I was learning to work through with her.
"After a year of being a Technical Support Engineer, I became a Senior Technical Support Engineer. I didn't think it was possible but now I enjoy my job even more! Now I mentor new engineers and help them as they are starting out as Technical Support Engineers. I feel a great sense of accomplishment by being able to help others just like I was mentored when I started at MicroStrategy.
"Working at Microstrategy is a great experience. The people are awesome. You learn new things daily. The whole atmosphere of tech support is comfortable, friendly, and fun!"

"I've been at MicroStrategy for 10 years developing and maintaining our Business Intelligence platform software. What attracted me to MicroStrategy initially was the excitement of coming to work for an energetic and innovative technology company, and it is still the same reason why I like working at MicroStrategy today.
"I enjoy working with a group of bright and diverse people to continually improve our software and meet the challenges that we encounter every day. Whether it be investigating and fixing a tough customer issue, designing a new feature, or mentoring one of our junior engineers, my days as a Manager of Software Engineering are always interesting and fulfilling."
