Basic Function: This position is responsible for building and maintaining the integrity and security of the enterprise servers that support MicroStrategy’s security infrastructure. The Engineer’s primary role will be to secure, manage our security infrastructure and provide hand-on technical engineering support to the network, systems and data storage platform teams.
Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Develop, implement, and maintain secure baseline configurations of systems, appliances, and applications to applicable industry standards
- Work with Security and Internal Audit teams in performing scope and risk analysis on purposed changes
- Manage our host based security infrastructure including but not limited to malware, firewall, and intrusion
- Manage our virtual network based security infrastructure including but not limited to network access control, firewall, and intrusion
- Support MicroStrategy Cloud Change Advisory Board (CAB) in approving secure and appropriate changes
- Adhere to industry standards (i.e. SSAE16, SAS70, PCI, HIPAA, NIST 800-53, etc.) and company best practices for service delivery
- Work with appropriate MicroStrategy technical staff to develop incident response practices on Cloud Intelligence security issues
- Vulnerability management including releasing patch notifications to operations staff with appropriate response levels for adherence and validating implementation.
- Develop and design project plans, tasks and timelines and then provide verbal and written status reports as directed
- Define, document & implement configuration standards for servers & operating systems
- Perform other technical duties as assigned
- Provide on-call support & remote computing needs
Job Requirements:
- BA / BS required (in Computer Science or IT related fields)
- 2+ years of experience in Security Engineering / Administration
- Security or Systems certifications are preferred desirable (Security+, GIAC, etc.)
- Strong knowledge on End point security solutions like Malware, HIDS, Vulnerability Management, and Configuration Management.
- Must have a strong security engineering / administration background with experience in at least three of the following areas including:
- Server application security configuration hardening including Operating Systems, databases, web servers, applications and other data storage systems
- Symantec Endpoint Protection Suite
- Configuration Management (Symantec, Cisco, Vmware, etc)
- Industry leading compliance / vulnerability assessment tools in support of compliance management (Nessus, Retina, etc.)
- Collaborated with Subject Matter Experts (SME) in determining proper security compliance configuration
- IPsec & SSL VPN Configuration and Management (Cisco, Juniper, F5, etc.)
- Experience securing VMware virtualize environments
- Experience working with Industry Compliance Standards (PCI, ISO, HIPAA, SSAE16, SAS70, NIST)
- Must have experience with virtualized environments
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work across departmental boundaries to mobilize resources
