Basic Function: The Education Specialist is responsible for the development of professional educational materials, including instructor-led course manuals and presentations, E-learning content, and certification materials, that are used in customer, partner, and employee training. On occasion, they deliver Train-the-Trainers for new courses to field instructors and they deliver existing courses to technical new hires. If requested, they might also deliver courses to customers and partners.
Job Duties (include but not limited to):
- Development of professional educational materials, including instructor-led course manuals, online courseware, and certification materials, used in customer, partner, and employee training classes.
- Topics primarily cover MicroStrategy software.
- Topics may also delve into technologies that are complementary to MicroStrategy software including: Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), Structured Query Language (SQL), Windows 2007, UNIX, Web servers, Active Server Pages (ASP), Java, Java Server Pages (JSP), Adobe Flex
- Expertise is not required in these complementary technologies, but knowledge of them is a plus.
- Occasional delivery of courses to new hire audiences, customers, and partners
- Delivery of courses that you author or update in the MicroStrategy University curriculum, including Train-the-Trainer sessions
- If requested, occasional delivery of courses that are part of the MicroStrategy Certified Engineer (MCE) Program to new technical hires
- If requested, occasional delivery of courses to customers and partners at MicroStrategy training centers or customer sites.
- Audiences tend to be technical in nature with experience in relational databases and business intelligence.
- Subject Matter Expertise in a focus area related to MicroStrategy software.
- Includes considerable authority over education materials related to this focus area.
- Constant research and testing in order to ensure accuracy and maintain quality of educational materials.
Job Requirements:
- BS/BA Degree in MIS, Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years experience in technical writing or technical education
- Strong written and presentation skills
- Self-motivated and strong time management skills
- Experience with business intelligence systems or relational database management systems, including SQL a plus
- Proficiency in technologies which are complementary to MicroStrategy software a plus
- Experience using desktop publishing software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe FrameMaker, TechSmith SnagIt, Adobe Captivate a plus
